Straight Chatting from the Library: Cherise Kelley

A special library welcome to Cherise Kelley who has stopped by to chat with me as part of her virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Leave a comment here and you will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Amazon or BN.com gift card.  You can see the other stops on the tour here: http://goddessfishpromotions.blogspot.com/2013/04/virtual-book-tour-how-i-got-him-to.html  Remember, the more you comment, the better your chances.

What is the favorite book you remember as a child?
I read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings when I was 10 and fell in love with them.

Tell us about your current book in 10 words.
It answers, "How do I get him to marry me?"

E-Reader or print? and why?
E-reader. It stays open without my having to hold it open!

One book at a time or multiples?
I edit books as well as read for fun, so I keep my pleasure reading to one book at a time.

When do you do most of your reading?
Pleasure reading is my reward for writing or editing so many pages. I take four reading breaks every day, for half an hour at a time.

Favorite place to read?
I read in my recliner.

Do you loan your books?
I do loan my print books. I haven't loaned any e-books yet.

How do you keep your books organized?
I wish I knew how to organize my ebooks on my Kindle. My print books are shelved in order in their series, and each series is in the order I started reading it.

Re-reader or not?
I do re-read my favorite books. I have read the Twilight series 10 times. That is a personal record.

What would make you not finish a book?
I finish fewer free e-books than I don't finish. I stop reading if I get bored, offended, disgusted, or otherwise feel I'm not having fun reading a book.

MEET THE AUTHOR

When Scott asked me to be his girlfriend, I surprised him by saying, "No." We were on the phone, as we were every night. I could tell he was hurt, but since we were on the phone and not together in person, we had to talk, and that was a good thing.

I explained, "I'm 30 years old. I've already had the last boyfriend I am ever going to have. In the future, I am going to have a husband, not a boyfriend."

He surprised me by taking this in stride. "I understand," he said. "You do realize I am in the Navy and all that entails?"

"I was born in the Navy!" This was true. My dad was in the Navy.

Four months later, he took me on a date to the top of the Space Needle in Seattle.

He passed me a little black velvet box under the table, and whispered:

"Babe, will you marry me?"

"Do you mean it?"

Yes, that's what I said. Not very romantic, was I?

READ THE BLURB

He likes it. Now get him to put a ring on it!

Learn from these 50 stories of women who have been there!

Sandy's boyfriend Jack wouldn't even bring up the 'm word'. She started leaving her things in his apartment, including some tampons in his bathroom. It worked! Too off guard to make excuses like "Living together is just as good as being married," Jack said, "People will start to think you're my wife!" "Well, how about it?" Sandy asked Jack.

Crystal got Paul to skip just living together by refusing to move across the country until she had a marriage license, signed and dated.

Read these full stories plus 48 more, ranging from the heartwarming to the hilarious!

You don't have to interview 50 married women to find out how they managed to get that ring on their finger. The author has done that for you. All 50 were married after 1990, so this is modern information for our changing times. Read and find out how you can get him to marry you and not just live together!

  1. I reward myself with reading breaks as well. I stop reading a book for all of the same things you mentioned.

  2. Thanks for the interview. I prefer e-books to for the storage, you can hold onto many titles without them cluttering up your house since I hate to give away a book I loved

  3. I find that if I'm not into the book by the end of the first chapter I stop reading. I don't want to waste my time when there are so many other books to read.

  4. Thanks for blogging my book, Librarian Judith! Yep, Mary, why waste our time, right? You're welcome for the interview, Shannon, and yeah, I love how ebooks don't clutter my house, too! Fewer things to pack and move! Yay! Ingeborg, I don't even give it a chapter anymore. More like three pages!

I posted this yesterday, too, but for those just tuning in: I had my Kindle for a year and a half before I found out I could delete books from it, right there on the screen! I was getting frustrated with all the books on there that I knew I didn't want to read, but that I had to wade through to get to the other books! LOL!
