Straight Chatting at the Library: Aedan Byrnes, author of THROUGH THE ORACLE'S MIST

The author of THROUGH THE ORACLE'S MIST, Aedan Byrnes, came to The Library to talk about books (don't you just love a Scottish accent??). He is giving away the most awesome prize package: a journal from his CafePress storefront, a charm and leather bracelet made for the story and a custom cover shepherd hook style bookmark made by Stone Soup Designs for Through the Oracle's Mist. The bracelet leather colors and the journal cover may differ from the photo. Just look at the eyes on that character... :::sigh:::.... ahem, sorry, Aedan--just had a drool-worthy moment. READ THE INTERVIEW

Excuse me while I wipe the drool from my chin, Aedan, and welcome to The Library. What is the favorite book you remember as a child?

Frog & Toad Together. I still have it here with my name in it.

Tell us about your current book in 10 words.

Through the Oracle’s Mist is a story of choices.

It really sounds good and I've put it on my TBR list. What books do you have on hold at the library?

I am not patient enough to wait for stories to come available at the library. I buy them and add to my personal collection.

Do you have any bad book habits?

Is accumulation considered bad?

Not where I sit! Dog-ear or bookmark? (don't worry—Librarian Judith won't hold it against you—much)

To me, books are treasured friends. Bookmark, always.

Another positive check mark for Aedan... you're doing well! Where is your favorite place to read?

Outside in the yard.

I normally would agree, but this winter weather we're having is making me appreciate my fireplace! Do you loan your books?

*grimaces* I loan them for keeps. If it’s a tale I plan to reread, I buy another copy.

How do you keep your books organized?

By genre and author then by release date.

Wow..you are quite organized! Re-reader or not?

Absolutely re-read, often.

What would make you not finish a book?

Hasn’t happened.

Keep books or give them away?

If I encounter a tale I didn’t enjoy thoroughly, I will donate it, otherwise it get shelved with my other friends near ones they have common ground with until I get around to it again.

Fun questions, Judith. Thanks for having me over. Give me a shout sometime:

READ THE BLURB

In the blackest night, with the moon and stars to guide him, she would always be there waiting…

Cyrenna thought she died the day she watched Tynan and his brothers jump through the banishment portal in an act of solidarity with Rigor. Little did she know, it would be the first of many deaths she would experience in her quest to claim his heart. She would surrender not only her immortal soul, but a mortal one repeatedly. Through a deal with the great Oracle, she has multiple mortal lifetimes to change the direction of her future and have a chance with Tynan.

Her journey spans the ages from the GenPei War in Japan and the Silk Road west, to Cromwell, the Three Kingdoms and modern times, bringing her one step closer to forever until she makes a misstep. Then, the burden falls to Tynan. The only thing that is absolute is her fervent hope that he will come, but there’s one big problem.

Through it all, he doesn’t so much as know her name.

You can purchase book I, Through the Oracle’s Mist through these sources: Amazon, Smashwords, or Barnes and Noble.

MEET THE AUTHOR

There is no simple description for Aedan Byrnes. Obsessive, dreamer, reclusive, compulsive, outdoorsman and wordsmith would be among the list if one were started. The displaced Gael lives in the upper Midwest with family between jaunts wherever the road takes him. A frequent traveler, he is as likely to be found rock climbing or spelunking as sitting fireside dreaming or aimlessly floating away.

A lifelong lover of words and writing, he claims a diverse reading appetite and his writing reflects the myriad influences. A self-proclaimed 'reader's writer', he looks for the emotional and the sensory in word combinations, not just the visceral comprehension of phrases in the stories he crafts and his love of all things literary shines through.

  2. I can't wait for the library releases either. I always want to keep the books I read and the libraries kind of frown on not getting their books back. lol.
