READ THE BLURB

"They are immortal, deadly, ruthless. I don’t belong to their dark underworld.

I won’t be a victim. Never again."

She has nothing—not even a roof above her head. She has unimaginable powers, but these powers come at a price: she has to feed on the mental energy of human beings, killing them in the process.

Her name is Griffen and she is a newborn. She is a copy, a paranormal twin of a young woman, Letitia. Griffen is not the only one of her kind—there are others like her, living among humans or hiding underground. Romantics called them doppelgangers, ghostly twins, the harbingers of death. Scientists who know that they exist call them simulacra. They call themselves mirror souls. Who are they and what are their goals?

Lonely and desperate, hunted by her fellow mirror souls, Griffen hides in the London underground and preys on criminals. In this dark underworld, is there a place for compassion, for love?

In this action-packed paranormal thriller, dark fantasy author A. J. Blakemont will guide you on an epic journey through parallel realities toward a dramatic revelation.

READ AN EXCERPT

My claws plunged into the skull of my victim. Convulsions shook his body while my mind was synchronizing with his. For a few seconds, we would be one, sharing everything: thoughts, memories, emotions. Mirror souls call this the “delta link,” or the “kiss of death.” We don’t eat, drink, make love, or experience pleasure in any other form. The kiss of death replaces all those experiences, combines them into a single instant more intense than any orgasm.

The kiss of death is a moment of ultimate intimacy. The victim discovers what is hidden in the darkest corners of their psyche, while we watch their inner universe unfold before us. Repressed memories, feelings banished into the abyss of the unconscious, suddenly rush to the surface, overwhelming any organized thought. And from this chaos, this battleground where the ghosts from the past break the barriers that had kept them confined to the mental limbo, finally emerges their destroyer: the truth.

Nothing is hidden. Their mind becomes a single flow channeled into mine. I see them, more vulnerable than ever, all their secrets exposed. Time freezes, and their life passes before my eyes in slow motion. Recent memories first, then older ones, until we reach the instant when they became self-aware. This journey is almost as terrifying for me as it is for them. I always fear that behind the ugliness of their crimes, I will discover something different, innocent, and beautiful, like the memories of childhood, dreams, unfulfilled longings. I try to understand why they became who they are, what drove them to this life of violence, why the only way for them to experience pleasure is to cause pain to others.
