READ THE BLURB

Since their father was taken to the dungeons of the capital city, Eoin and Saera have had to fend for themselves. If Eoin can find an apprenticeship in the capital, they can work on freeing him.

But Saera is afflicted with an evil goddess's light, and when her Aura flares up in the middle of the street, the power-hungry Church Regency are quickly on their heels, keen to eradicate the threat.

With more than the Regency after them, their only hope is to relinquish the Aura. Making alliances they would never have dreamt of, they find themselves swept up into a struggle against the kingdom they once called their own.

READ THE REVIEW

Saera and her older brother Eoin are trying to get to the city--their father has been captured and they need to find a way to take care of themselvs. However, Saera has been blessed (or cursed) with one of the seven Auras that are in the world..and once it's discovered, they are on the run for their lives.

Fortunately, they make some alliances along the way that serves them well. And, they come to a better understanding of themselves.

I liked this land and the concept of the Auras--and I'm glad this is the first book of a series. I also like that the books in the series are intended to be standalones--although I do hope that some of the characters cross-over into other books. I found myself really liking them.

The situations the siblings find themselves are exciting--even though there was a time or two I wanted Saera to not be as impulsive as she is. But, that's all part of being 16, no matter what world you live in, apparently!

I'm definitely looking forward to future books set in this land.
