Straight Chatting From the Library: Generational Curse by Terry Reed

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. The author is awarding a $10 Amazon or BN GC to one randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

Welcome, Tracy! We see you've interviewed the heroine from your story, Generational Curse, and look forward to meeting her. Take it away!

Kyla, did you like the way Tracy told your story?

Yes. Not to brag on myself, but I’m a little complicated. It’s no secret I haven’t lived a very chaste life. My mother says I have a lot to offer but don’t want to share my gifts and talents. She’s right. The thought of being tied down to an available man is boring.

How did you and Sean Prescott meet?

Sean Prescott, now that’s a man I wouldn’t mind sharing my gifts, talents and anything else with. How did we meet? I stopped by his showroom at a trade show. Man when I saw him, I was instantly attracted. We talked and I discovered that he was available, however, I have a rule, no dating men I work with. True, we don’t work with each other per se, but we are business associates. I find that when you cross the lines of business with pleasure something always goes wrong.

Anyway, Sean and I may have chemistry, but we are very different. I like sex and he is very much celibate. I enjoy a good glass of wine at the end of the day and he’s a recovering alcoholic. He’s looking for someone to spend the rest of his life with and I’m just looking for a good time. Now if Sean was married and willing to cheat on his wife, I might see my way to abandon my rule about socializing with business associates.

I thought you said you and Sean did socialize outside of work? Then why did you spend a couple of weeks at his place?

I see you’ve been reading Tracy’s book. It’s not what you think. Sean had a little accident. He bruised his thigh and sprained his ankle and was on bed rest. He didn’t have anyone to stay with him, so Winnie [my Yorkie…she’s a gift from Sean] stayed with him and Simon [his Boston Terrier…he’s also Winnie’s boyfriend].

Sounds like you broke that socializing rule?

There’s exceptions to every rule. I enjoy his company.

So you and Sean are seeing each other outside of work?

What are you implying? Just because we have coffee a couple of times a week, take Winnie and Simon on play dates, do brunch and dinner once a week, doesn’t mean something is going on between us. That’s just what friends do.

However, I don’t think it’s normal for friends to be fantasizing about their friends while they are being intimate with someone else. If I could just get Sean out of my head when I’m with Eric, life would be a little easier. I have to admit, Sean makes for some rather juicy fantasies.

You said Sean gave you a dog…what kind and why?

Yes, Sean gave me my little baby Winifred or Winnie. She’s a cute black and tan Yorkie. I call her my furry baby. She goes with me every where. She’s quite the little princess. I tried to introduce her to my boyfriend, but she bit him. I think Sean told her to do that.

At first, I thought Sean gave her to me, so I’d be so occupied with her, I wouldn’t have time for anything or anyone else. But that wasn’t so. He said he gave her to me because I needed someone to love…and he was right. Winnie has changed my life and I’m very grateful for the gift. It still doesn’t mean, I’m ready to let Sean in, it just means…

What do you do for a living?

I own a small Interior Design firm in Manhattan. My firm handles residential and commercial projects. That kind of goes back to how I met Sean. I knew of his furniture, but it wasn’t until later that I discovered he was the designer. I thought he just sourced everything out. He’s very talented. We’ve done a few projects together.

Are you a print book reader or an ebook reader?

I like both. I use a lot of design books as accessories on projects and for research. Those are really best in print, for me. For my reading pleasure, I do a mixture of both. I tend to gravitate to the more steamy romance novels. Sean teases me about my romance novels, but whenever I’m not feeling well, he sends me a few.

Do you have a favorite authors?

Of course I like what Tracy writes, especially the books about me. I also like Julia Kent, Elizabeth Lennox, Deborah Bladon and Melody Anne. I love discovering new authors.

I understand you really like shoes?

Let’s just say my shoe guy and I are on a first name basis. Smile and wink.

Do you have any siblings?

I have a younger sister, named Corianne. Unlike me she’s married. Although, I don’t think she’s happily married. But it’s her fault. I told her not to get married so young. Now she’s sitting at home miserable.

Speaking of marriage. Do you ever think you’ll change you mind and want to get married? You’re very quiet.

I’m thinking.

Really?

I’m not going to say yes and I’m not going to say no. What I’ll say is, read the book. Wink and smile.

READ THE BLURB

What happens when a celibate Christian man befriends a woman involved with a married man? Sean knows he should run in the other direction, but Kyla tempts him to abandon his Christian beliefs for a taste of the forbidden. But if he continues the relationship, can he convince that being with a married man isn't the fantasy life the generations of women in her family made it appear to be?

Sean Prescott and Kyla James are business associates playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse hoping the other will give in. But in this high stakes relationship game, is there really a winner or will both be losers?

READ AN EXCERPT

“What do I do about Sean?”

“What about him?” Mike asked.

“I think I’ve fallen in love with him.”

“Okay, I know this is a female thing.” He started to leave.

“Honey, sit down.” DeeDee patted his leg.

“You know I’m no good with the dating stuff,” he pleaded with DeeDee.

“I know, but you’re his friend.”

He took a deep breath. “He’s a great guy, but you already know that. And you probably know how much Francesca hurt him. Has he given you any reason to think he may feel the same?”

“Kyla, forgive my husband. Honey, you’re right, I’ll handle this. Go check on Michelle.”

“Thank you.” He stood up, “Kyla, I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Thank you Mike or is it Pastor?”

“It’s still Mike. We’re friends, remember.” He smiled and walked down the hall.

“Okay, tell me everything,” DeeDee urged.

“I can’t get him out of my head. He told me he was going on a blind date and I got upset. And after I told him I broke up with my boyfriend and how hurt I was, he came over with ice cream. Well, gelato. It’s one of the things we like to do, eat gelato. We meet twice a week for coffee and lunch, and occasionally we go to dinner or brunch. And when I’m not feeling well, he comes over with groceries and rubs my feet and takes care of me and Winnie. Then he drove me to my parents and stayed with us the weekend. He said I needed to be around my family. He and my mother have become friends.” She chuckled. “I think they’ve been conspiring to get me to change.”

“I think it’s pretty safe to say, he feels the same way.”

  3. Good Morning Mai,
What's my weird author "quirk"? That's a good question. My weird quirk would have to be using my iPad as my research tool. This is weird because I work on a large [27"] computer, so I could easily open another screen, but I don't. Not quite sure why I do this, but in my writing world, it makes sense. Smile.

    Thanks for the question,
    Tracy
