Nicholas La Cour loves money. In the game of betrayer and betrayed he thinks his sister Lacey is the prefect target for his manipulative schemes to keep his financial ruin a secret.
Gorgeous Lacey La Cour lost her hopeful and playful spirit after being dumped by her childhood sweetheart. Now an adult, she is strong and independent.
Determined to find the answer to his money problems, Nicholas discovers his best friend Kienan Egan is strangely attracted to his sister Lacey.
Does his sister’s love life hold the answers to all of his problems?
Does Nicholas have the prefect plan?
A vengeful seduction is swept into play as tragic forces are unleashed in a dangerous game of deception and greed unlocking doors to the past.
Will Lacey discover her brother’s deception before it’s too late?
When it’s all said and done it’s all about the well-heed things in life, family, friendships, affairs, revenge, and romance.
Maëlle breathed out a sigh. “What I fail to understand is how they always seem to manage to slip away and leave us alone.”
Maëlle’s voice shook with surprise. “Hey Lacey, look over there walking by the appetizers table,” she pointed. “There’s Miss Lucy Mondragon.”
“Lucy who?” Lacey asked, standing up to get a better look.
“You remember,” Maëlle said, rising. “She ran for Miss San Jose several years ago, remember?” Her eyes gleamed. “She’s a local celebrity and her sister is Mimi Mondragon. Lacey you’ve got to remember Mimi. Because Mimi and Paris London were Miss California runners up three years ago, remember?”
Lacey smiled. Maëlle Moulard had been her best friend since she could remember. When it came to people, Maëlle had a great memory. She always was good at remembering people, places and their names, Lacey thought. She was a good friend who stuck by her as close as a shadow.
Lacey looked up. “Oh yeah, now I remember.”
Just then, a voice said, “I remember her well.”
Suddenly Quinn came out of nowhere. “Wow man! Lucy’s pregnancy is really showing.”
Lacey jumped. “Quinn you startled me!”
Maëlle turned around and stared. “Quinn, I thought you were talking to Nicholas and Kienan?” she asked but didn’t wait for a response. “And how did you know Lucy was pregnant? Yours?”
Quinn chuckled out. “I don’t think so,” he responded with gleaming white teeth, in a deceptive mild tone. His plan was simple. Cast doubt on Maëlle. He knew Nicholas was her weakness. He knew what the effect would do to Maëlle when he said what he was thinking. “You know Maëlle I think I heard that Nicholas mentioned something about Lucy. If you’re interested in her you should ask him. Maybe he knows something about the father of her baby.”
