READ THE INTERVIEW

What are four things you can’t live without?

Family, friends, hope and fun.

What is your favorite television show?

Currently Scandal.

If you could be any character, from any literary work, who would you choose to be? Why?

Elizabeth Bennet from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. For Elizabeth is a smart, sassy progressive woman and in the end she gets Mr. Darcy.

What have you got coming soon for us to look out for?

The readers have been very kind to Only Wheat Not White. I’m thinking of the plot for the sequel to Only Wheat Not White, where Brett will meet Eila’s parents. It will be a fun and emotional ride steered by love.

What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?

I have many favorite authors but the one of the first authors to leave a mark on me was Jane Austen. I read her when I was in fourth grade and she gave me a glimpse of an imperfect woman who was perfect because she was confident and comfortable in her skin. Like her the majority of the women in my stories are strong, smart and sassy.

READ THE BLURB

MediaKit_BookCover_OnlyWheatNotWhiteWhat if following your heart means failing your family? Eila Sood leaves India for the U.S., hoping to unite her family and mend fences with her estranged older sister. She soon learns that her sister’s intercultural marriage, which outraged their parents, has hit rock bottom. To help pay the bills, Eila accepts an accounting job at a strip club, working for the fascinating yet infuriating Brett Wright. As their friendship and mutual desire builds, Eila chooses keeping family peace over following her heart. After Brett misinterprets her fears and accuses Eila of prejudice, his ex-girlfriend steps in to offer solace. Eila realizes that whichever choice she makes will rip her life apart. What will Eila choose? Love of her life or a life ruled by tradition? Fall in love with love, in this steamy saga from a best selling romance author.

READ AN EXCERPT

“Hey!” Eila flared. She heard Brett inhale sharply. He shot from his chair and was beside her in seconds. “What happened to you?”

Eila stiffly draped the scarf around her head again. “I got mugged last night.”

Eila failed to see Brett’s hands curl into fists. He was angry, very angry at the person who had done this to her.

“Are you okay?”

Eila merely nodded.

Running a quick hand through his hair he sat down on the chair next to her. “You are a trouble magnet,” he growled.

“So the mugging is my fault?” Eila’s expression bordered on incredulous.

“I didn’t say that.”

“No, you just implied it.” Eila shot to her feet. “I just wanted to thank you for saying a few things in my favor yesterday. And I’m sure if you hadn’t, I still could’ve managed just fine.”

“I’m glad you aren’t hurt.” Brett let Eila see in his eyes what he was really feeling. His blue eyes met her dark ones steadily. An intense emotion flashed in his eyes. “Obviously your mouth is working, so I’m guessing you are okay,”

“You are unbelievable!” Eila retorted, putting her glasses back on.

The sneer staged a comeback. “I know.”

“It wasn’t a compliment,” she snorted.

“I know that too.” Brett nodded mockingly. “I have a job for you. I need an assistant.”

“Bartenders need assistants?”

“No, restaurant owners do.” Brett sat back in his chair and looked up at her. His face was serious.

Eila asked perplexed. “Who’s the owner?”

Brett watched Eila. She wore fashionable but conservative and pale colored clothes, her hair was always neatly clipped in a long, glossy ponytail but Eila could not contain her impulsive, unrestrained and unaffected personality. She reminded him of windy meadows, gusting rains and trees burdened with blossoms. Brett crossed his arms across his chest and the shirt tightened, which flattered his buff torso.

“You’re looking at him,” he said.
