READ THE INTERVIEW

Tell us about your current book series in 10 words.
It feels like someone is telling you a quick funny story. 11 words. Oops!

What are you reading right now?
I'm actually reading a book on Celtic culture and paganism in Scotland. I love to explore folklore and I feel it helps inspire my Fairy Tales.

Dog-ear or bookmark? (don't worry—Librarian Judith won't hold it against you—much)
Bookmark, and make it a colourful one. If there is a book I like, I want it to always look good and not have any marks. I think bookmarks can be a lot of fun. I like to read on trains, so I always end up using the ticket, and then the next day it reminds me of my trip.

E-Reader or print? and why?
E- Reader. I am a big fan of Kindle. I just love having all my favourite books in one place and always with me. With Funny Fairy Tales it is the only option, because this is a new type of book. It's a bit more like a snack, like something fun you read on the plane or waiting for the train, and it works like an app. Kindle were very excited (and very helpful) when they saw it for the first time.

One book at a time or multiples?
Definitely multiples. I'm aiming for a new release every few weeks so people can really enjoy this magical world as a nice funny series and have more to read when they want to.

Favourite place to read?
I like to read a little right before I go to sleep at night. It's fun and it takes me away from my busy days into something more relaxing.

Re-reader or not?
Depends on the book. There are a couple I just have to read again and again. Call of the Wild by Jack London, my favourite book in the world, because it's so real and it's written from the eyes of a dog that changes and becomes a wild wolf. Another one I read many times was Pride and Prejudice by Austen, because I just liked Elizabeth. I wasn't that big a fan of Darcy though. Hard to admit...

Keep books or give them away?
I always give them away. When I was in college, I would always give the books I was reading away once I was done, and if a friend tried to return a book, I would tell him or her to give it to the next person. People were so happy, I got a few cards and some nice chocolate :)

    1. Hi Peggy,
I did have a very strong writer's block with Red Riding which is my favourite fairy tale. I would start, then erase it and start over. So I just thought, why don't I write the beginning? Then the end? And the next day I read the Grimm version again and wrote the scene where the wolf is in grandma's bed. And then I felt I got it, and I could go on, because I had the wolf and he was very important for me. There's always a way around blocks, I believe :) How about you?
